Transform your kitchen with professional sink replacement services in London

Are you looking to upgrade your kitchen's functionality while adding a touch of style? Replacing your old sink can drastically change the way you use your kitchen. We are more than capable of adding new taps/faucets or changing the sink style to align with your new design. If you have started a bathroom renovation project or want to freshen up the space, changing the basin will help you transform the look and improve the functionality. So, let the Fantastic Handyman's plumbers take care of every aspect of the process.

Whether you need to install a kitchen sink or replace the basin, we will safely and securely fit it, no matter the sink type and the additional plumbing adjustments required.

Although every sink installation project has its challenges, here are the main steps we follow:

  1. Removal of the old sink - First, your sink fitter will switch off the water supply and disconnect all drainpipes, water supply lines, and dishwasher or garbage disposal connections (where applicable) before removing the sink clips. Then, the plumber will remove the caulk that attaches your old sink to the worktop.
  2. Preparation and inspection - Before replacing your sink, the plumber will check all parts that will be reused and will ensure your new sink will fit smoothly in the existing hole.
  3. Installation - The sink installer will place the sink and apply caulk, making sure the sink is securely placed.
  4. Finishing - The final part is the installation of the taps/faucet, then connecting all the water supply pipes, placing the drain strainer and sealing it. To ensure the installation is successful, the plumber will switch on the main water supply and test the sink to ensure there are no leaks.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Can I change a sink myself?

A; Replacing a kitchen sink with the same type may not cause you serious troubles, but it can be time-consuming, so hiring a plumber may be your best option. They have the expertise to replace piping and inspect faucets and drains, and they can complete the job in just a few hours rather than days. Also, by hiring an insured and certified professional, you can avoid any water damage mishaps due to poor installation, loose fittings or any pipe issue that can turn into a costly repair.

Q: What is the difference between replacing and installing a new kitchen sink?

A: Replacing your sink with a different type may require some adjustments, but overall, replacing an existing sink is more economical than installing one in a new location. Installation of a sink to a new place will require new pipework laying, worktop cutting and additional finishing.

Q: Can you replace a sink without removing the countertop?

A: Contrary to popular belief, replacing a kitchen sink or basin without replacing the countertop is possible. To prevent any damage to the worktop is highly recommended to leave this job to professional plumbers.

Q: My new ceramic sink get damaged? Can you help with that too?

A: In fact, we can help you with that. The hard surface repair specialists we work with can repair chips, cracks and scratches to ceramic, porcelain, granite or marble sinks, but if you are unsure about the material, you can still contact us and send us photos. You will be amazed by the results, so ask us about this service.

Q: How long does it take to replace a sink?

A: On average, a kitchen sink installation service may take 2 to 3 hours. The sink type and the additional plumbing work are the main factors affecting the required time.

Q: I'm in the middle of a kitchen renovation. When is the right time to book a sink installation?

A: If you are renovating your kitchen, you should have your cupboards, plumbing and electrical work done before you can proceed with installing the kitchen sink.

Q: How much does it cost to install a kitchen sink?

A: Kitchen sinks installation depends on your sink type, any extra features/connections, and the time required, so to get a better idea, check the prices and the real-time availability through our booking form or the GoFantastic mobile app.

Q: Do I need to replace the faucet for my new kitchen or basin?

A: Usually, most standard-size sinks will readily accommodate any of the universal faucet types on the market. However, some fitting kitchen sink projects may require you to shop for 4" or 8" spread faucets. If you don't know which ones to pick for your brand-new sink or basin, the helpful plumbers will readily take the measurements and suggest good-quality faucets that fit your particular model.
